The Friday Five

Today's Friday Five is:

My Five Favorite Disney Heroines:

1. Belle from Beauty and the Beast. This might be because this was my daughter's favorite Disney movie for several years, but I love Belle and the supporting cast and the tormented prince who needed Belle's love to set him free.

2. Mulan. Not only is the movie fun, but Mulan isn't a damsel in distress. She is tough and proactive and brave, and yet, she falls in love.

3. Rapunzel from Tangled. I know this one hasn't been out all that long, but I thought Rapunzel was adorable.

4. Lady from Lady and the Tramp. I'm a sucker for Cocker Spaniels.

5. Jasmine from Aladdin. I like that she has a tiger! How cool is a princess who has a tiger???

Who is your favorite Disney heroine?

  1. Mulan!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Mulan...and I cry every time I see it! When the Emporer and all the people of China bow to is so powerful. And then when she returns home and presents her father with the sword as a gift of honor, and then he throws it to the side and says the greatest gift is having her for a gets my heart every time!

Excuse me...I need find my copy of Mulan. sniff, sniff

  2. Mulan is my favorite Disney heroine

  3. Hands down it's Belle for me. French fairy tale, strong young lady with a mind of her own, loads of books and a beast that just needs some love. Sigh. And I adore the original Beauty and The Beast movie called 'La Belle et La Bete.'

  4. Rapunzel! I loved Tangled!

  5. Belle. Has to be the books. But I like Rapunzel's spunk too.

    ~ Wendy

  6. I agree that Belle and her love of books wins.

Also, I'd pick Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, and Rapunzel.

Oh my goodness, I think I need to start digging out the VHS tapes!

  7. My daughter is 4 and WAY into princesses at the moment.

Me: McKenna, what would you like to tell Jesus thank you for?

McKenna: (considers) Hmm. How about we tell him thank you for the princesses? Because I love them all so much.

The Little Mermaid and Aladdin were huge when I was little, so I've always loved Ariel and Jasmine. But you're right - Tangled was adorable. And I loved that Rapunzel could totally kick some butt with her frying pan!

  8. Snow White! I love that she prays after the dwarves decide to take in in. It's so sweet that she prays for Grumpy! We should all pray for the 'Grumpys' in our life. :-)

  9. Ooops! I meant to say '...when the dwarves take her in.'

  10. My favorite Disney heroine, old style, is Cinderella. Didn't give up on her dreams -- kept singing even when she was mistreated.
But I really like Rapunzel in Tangled, too!
For fun I asked my daughter ... she wanted to pick Raja the tiger from Aladdin, but knew he didn't qualify.
So she went for Wendy Wu, which is from a Disney Channel movie, "Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior." OK, then.

  11. Jasmine. The tiger is definitely a bonus. But I love her independence and stubbornness yet she's vulnerable. And Aladdin is plain fun and adventurous so I must have a prince like him!
